A Gale force is about to blow through Wisteria Lane, but this time the culprit isn't Mother Nature.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that former Queer as Folk cad Gale Harold has booked a potentially recurring role on Desperate Housewives. The Vanished actor — who turned up last November as a swastika-sportin' medic in a two-part Grey's Anatomy — will play a quick-witted, charming and buttoned-down suburbanite. Picture a young Jack Lemmon, only without a cross-dressing Tony Curtis dragging him down.

He'll be introduced in the May 18 finale and could return next season in a recurring capacity.

I've added better quality screencaps of Gale's appearance on Deadwood for Leviathan Smiles and Amateur Night. I've also added Publications for scans that were missing and a few things to the QAF section.

It was brought to my attention that there's been some issues staying logged into the forum, messages disappearing, etc. I'll be upgrading and doing maintenance on it this weekend, and with new donations, will probably be purchasing a BETTER forum rather than the free scripts that are easy targets for bugs. So, bear with me please :) the forum will be down this weekend and then hopefully will come back better than ever.

Apologies for the lack of updates. I got promoted at work, which has been taking up a LOT of my time, AND my computer crashed. But I got it up and working again, finally, and am currently working on more Gale-centric screencaps which I hope to have up this weekend. Thank you all for your patience!

FYI to those who had planned to see Falling for Grace today in Vancouver! The opening date was changed to November 16th. :)

Just a few days after she wrapped up production for Falling for Grace — the feature film which she wrote, directed and starred in — Fay Ann Lee got a call from her agent. The producers of the TV drama Law and Order wanted her to audition for a role on the show, her agent said. Lee read for the part, only to hear the producers ask the question she expected, but hoped she wouldn’t hear: Could she play the role with a Chinese accent?

“That’s when I said to myself, ‘This is why I wrote my movie,’” Lee says from her New York home.

No slight against Law and Order — quality programming, that, and the show has paid Lee’s rent more than once. But the exchange brought up an issue that has concerned Lee for years. When would an Asian-American actor be called on to portray an ordinary woman — a role that mirrors the realistic lives of second- and third-generation Asian Americans and Asian-Canadians?

Aside from Christina, Sandra Oh’s character on TV’s Grey’s Anatomy, Grace Tang — Lee’s character in Falling for Grace — is that rare persona. Lee wrote the character of Grace for herself, partly in response to her frustration with the shallow depictions of Asian Americans on screen.

For those in Vancouver: Falling for Grace will open at the Cinemark Tinseltown Theater, 88 West Pender on November 9th. The dates will appear on their site closer to the actual opening day but you can call for showings. (Thanks to Barbara!)
